Obituary: Joanne J. Nelson – Door County Pulse – Cyber Tech

Might 2, 1934 – Might 30, 2024

Joanne J. Nelson of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Washington Island and Scottsdale, Arizona died on Might 29, 2024 at 90 years outdated, after a full and full life. 

Joanne was preceded by her husband of 32 years, J. William “Invoice” Nelson, and her beloved 15-year-old son, Christopher Andrew Vedenlov Nelson. 

Joanne was born in Chicago, to Jack Engelbrecht and Magda (Larson) Jacobsen, and grew up in Norwood Park, Illinois. She graduated from Taft Excessive Faculty and is a proud alumna of Lawrence College in Appleton. 

After school she moved to the Washington D.C. space to show. It’s there that Joanne met the love of her life, Invoice.  Joanne and Invoice received married, raised their three boys and spent their lives in Chevy Chase. They despatched all their boys to Landon Faculty. As a highschool freshman at Landon, Chris (identified for his management) misplaced his battle with leukemia. In his honor, Landon and Joanne & Invoice established the Christopher Nelson ’86 Memorial Management Program, whereby famend leaders from all endeavors share their experiences on excellence and management with your entire pupil physique. 

Joanne devoted her life to elevating her household and made many sacrifices to supply alternatives for her boys. 

Joanne additionally adored the numerous summers (and is derived and autumns) of her life spent on the beckoning shores of Washington Island. She was captivated by the bucolic nature of the Island, relished the material of its group and treasured her many Island associates of all generations. Cherished photographs of Joanne sitting at her cabin window looking on the water whereas having fun with cereal & berries with espresso, toiling in her backyard, working errands in her outdated, crimson Jeep and taking in fires and sunsets are actually reminiscences that may endure for all who knew her.  Simply this previous March, Joanne completed a serious milestone of hers by transferring to Scottsdale to be nearer to household after having spent greater than 60 years in Chevy Chase. 

Joanne is now lastly reunited together with her husband, son and fogeys as she was laid to relaxation beside them without end, at dwelling below the peaceable shade of an evergreen tree within the cemetery on the Island that she cherished a lot…her favourite place on earth.

Joanne is survived by her different sons, John William Nelson Jr. (Stephanie) and Peter Winfield Nelson (Sarah) and her 4 grandchildren, Jessica, Chris, Grace and Asher.  She can be survived by her sister, June (Doug); nieces, Anne and Jane; and nephew, John.
