Obituary: LaVerne J. Poplawski – Door County Pulse – Cyber Tech

Feb. 4, 1923 – Aug. 8, 2024




LaVerne J. Poplawski, age 101, handed away Aug. 8, 2024, at Parkview Gardens, along with her household by her aspect. She was born in Racine, Feb. 4, 1923, daughter of the late Arthur and Nellie (Nee: Hanson) Meier.




LaVerne was a graduate of Wm. Horlick Excessive Faculty, “Class of 1941”. She was united in marriage to Richard J. Poplawski on Aug. 18, 1945, who preceded her in demise on Sept. 5, 2013. In her earlier years she was a nurse’s aide. LaVerne was a long-time member and volunteer at St. Edward’s Catholic Church and the Senior Companion Program. She belonged to her card membership for greater than 45 years, loved crocheting, crafts, flowers, gardening, birds, Door County and time shared with household and buddies. She is going to without end be remembered for her loving and beneficiant soul.




She was liked dearly and shall be sadly missed by her youngsters, Sr. Diane Poplawski O.P., Lyn (Robert) Matson, James Poplawski; grandchildren, Joseph (Emily) Matson, Alex Matson, grand son-in-law Josh Kosmala (Krystl); nice grandchildren, Colton, Brynn, Matson and Jackson; sister-in-law, Patricia Meier; nieces, nephews, different kin and expensive buddies. Along with her dad and mom and husband she was preceded in demise by her son, Richard Poplawski, Jr., granddaughter, Krystl Kosmala, brothers and sisters-in-law Clayton (Patricia) Meier, Lloyd (Frances) Meier, and Donald Meier and daughter-in-law, Rose Poplawski.




A Memorial Mass celebrating LaVerne’s life shall be held on Aug. 16 at 11:30 am at St. Edward’s Catholic Church,1401 Grove Ave., with Rev. Invoice Burkert officiating. Relations and buddies are welcome to satisfy with the household for Visitation on Friday, 10 am till time of Mass on the church.Personal interment shall be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy. 32. Memorials to the Senior Companion Program or to St. Edward’s Catholic Church have been advised by the household.
